Fishing

Postby Gapped Axe » Thu Sep 15, 2016 8:37 pm

Fishing on the East Coast of the Corro is fireing. The Son came back home on Monday morning to do a coup[le of diving jobs. I said we have a small window to go to the Bach and have a fish. Let's do it says he, a quite smile to my eye. Any way arrive at 1700hrs and the Son gets the boat ready for an early start tomorrow whist I put in an outside shower. After a few beers and a couple of whiskys for me and Toa Hunter on TV we hit the sack. Next morning out to our fishing spot and away we go. Eleven Snapps some up to 10lb and a horse of a Porae and a good blue cod plus a couple of Kahawai. A great day with the son, those of us who are close to our kids will know exactly what I mean. The son and I have always been very close and may it continue, great days spent together are priceless.

Well done alright 'GA' The fishing here is a bit hit and miss. Some days good some days not so good. The water is cold still.

And yet some days the ocean below is full of wheeling birds. Chasing the Kahawai who are chasing the whitebait.

at on stage we counted 7 different workups from where we were anchored. There was also a whale working the area as well.

Great fish, old rubber lips the porae. I have not caught many and what I have caught have been out of Mercury Bay. A good eating fish with the flesh a slightly pinkish colour.

Nice day out there today after a few days of cold blustery southerlies. We are in between guests so we had decided to go to the river for a couple of days whitebaiting. But just now a mate has rung to say we are going out after a few snapper instead.

Good fish there 'Packhorse' Most have spawned and that big fish of yours looks like it has too. Some have lost the vibrant colours of a few weeks ago. All that mating sure takes it out of you.
