QAMR???. Quartermaster??? I am guessing you have been in for awhile. One of our Corporals by the name of Robinson that served with us in Vietnam got himself killed when a m113 rolled over. He was a particularly nice guy. We had quite a few Tankies serve with V4 Company.

From what I can remember of my Fathers war history. He entered Camp in Wanganui and joined the Queen Alexander Mounted Rifles and went on to serve as an Anti Tank Gunner probably in the 2nd NZ Division Cavalry Regiment at Casino and on to Trieste.

I didn't know we still had an outfit called Queen Alexander Mounted Rifle's

Well that's that then, I joined up before we even had APC's so we could truly be called footsloggers. Exercised with the Aussie APC's at Raspberry Creek before we left for Malaya and then on up top.

We had M113s in Timor with extra armour. They were good for what they were. Anything beats walking with all ya kit on. I played enemy party for batt ex one time and got to spend three days in one in Waioru . The lavs are after my time but the Aussies gave us a lift in Timor from time to time.

It has a nice ring to it and its nice to remember it like that 'commander'. But the truth has it that as an m60 gunner I was carrying that much shit on my back an undignified scuttle through the thick stuff was about all I could manage.
