Continuation of my 20 Cal Fetish !!

Postby Happy » Mon Jun 13, 2016 3:14 pm

Bought this quite nice little Rem 700 .204 and just finished Happyising it.

Shorten barrel just a touch, the guys at DPT did another very nice job of the crown and Suppresser fitment 8-) ,
. Bit of a trigger tickle up and VX III Scope with aftermarket adjustment where it counts..

Interesting project 'Happy'. What will you be trying to achieve with this little beauty.

If you are going to reload for it what range of projectile weights or shapes do you think it will handle and at what speeds.

All questions and here is another. What speed do you think will it push a 55gr hornady along at say.

This twist suits sub 40 grain. Hornady 39 s or 32 s

exit at 4200 fps so as a pest round it should be fun. Not sure if I will reload for it yet or not

Be interesting to chrony some soon

4200 fps? Are you sure? That is faster than a fast thing on national fast day.

4225 at the muzzle for the 32 s. I think there's some interesting Sierra loads as well

You are right though I thought the 22-250 was fastish ....

I thought deer calibre when I saw it was built on a 222 magnum case. But I guess it is a bit light for that at sub 40gr projectiles. In saying that though I have shot a bloody lot of deer with 45gr projectiles.

I have watched one of my mates shoot good sized goats and absolutely drop them from 300 + meters with this cal and he was using 45 projectiles...
I ll try as many different sizes as I can get to see which factory ammo works best then just buy a couple or three boxes of it but keep my empty cases if I decide to reload for it... There seems to be plenty of ammo choices here to try... :D

I have a few longish range blue targets in mind as intend to clear them all well from my area before the ducks nest and they are getting fairly timid now ....

Had this .223 for a little while.

Decided to make it a little shorter and if it shoots ok use light weight projectiles for pest control.Just finished putting it all back togeather

It ll hopefully become my go to for all weather stuff for pest control
