Fav AR load

Those of us that shoot ARs whats your go to load that you prefer. Mine is 24.5grains of ar2206h, cci primers, ppu brass topped off with 60grain hornady softpoint, consistent and accurate in both NEA15 and DPMS giving easily 1moa and often smaller at 100m. Works well on goats too.

As far as factory ammo goes .....

Hornady training ammo 55 gr . It was cheap as chips so I bought a bit of it. The bulk Belmont 55 gr stuff seems ok
but not as accurate on paper. Myself and a mate pulled some to bits and found slight weight differences between loads
Both still more than good enough for all pest control.

We decided we d rather not load for .223 while prices were cheapish

Have lots of brass though if we need it ...

Its a long time since I reloaded for the AR. Back to the aerial shooting days in fact. I remember we used Hornady projectiles almost entirely. I have a load that I have recently begun to use that would go well in the ARs.

It is 27gr of BLC(2) behind a Sierra 63gr Sierra SMP. They are one of the few projectiles that stabilize well in the 1x12 twist barrel of the bolt actions like Sako Vixen. All reports say they are well above their competitors in killing ability and I must say they have the accuracy to go with it.

Looking back in my notes I found I did some testing with the sierra 63g smp #1370, 24grains of 2206h gave 0.79'' and 25.2 gave 0.71'' but the powder loads in between gave around 2 inch groups maybe because its a 1 in 7 twist. For me with this gun the hornadys shot better and were cheaper at that time, should have tried the 63s in my m700 bolt action 1 in 12 twist. That gun shoots the 55grain sierra boat tail game kings around 0.33''@ 100m.
