Show us yours.....knives

Postby Packhorse » Sat May 16, 2015 11:31 pm

I'll start this off.....

Orange handle is a Svord farmers model and new go to knife. It gets strapped on everyday for work. White handle is a old freezing works skinning knife which I got when I was about 7 or 8. Gave to shepherd he ground it down and it boomeranged back to me a year or so later. I used it as my work knife for about 12-13 years until I got the Svord

Both sheaths are my design made for me by saddlers.

Here are some of mine Packhorse and most have an interesting story to tell.

Image

I carried the sticker top left for years as my primary knife. The skinner and boner have seen much use. The Svord machete on the right and the Parang in the middle have both cleared many a spot for my hootchie half shelter (I prefer the Parang because the pitch of the handle means I am less likely to whack my knuckles when I get sloppy with technique). The bugger to the right of the skinner and boner has been in my left thigh up to the hilt by accident.

None of them see much of the light of day these days as I have a Buck drop point in my day pack and I carry the NZHS fold out in my pocket (neither pictured here).

I haven't stuck any in my thigh rushy but I have lost one found it 8 months later then lost it again. Thats why I ended up with the white skinner cos had found that one n stashed it away n was there when I needed it.

It is not a recommended practice Packhorse especially not out in the middle of the bush.

One day around a camp fire with a beer in hand I will tell you. I walked out an hour and a half and then drove five hours back to Auckland before getting it looked at by a doc.
