Aero Clubs, Planes and Other Transport.

Postby Scribe » Sat Feb 02, 2019 9:28 pm

Went for a half hour flight in the Coromandel Club plane today up past Papa Aroha to Fletchers bay and return. You really have to see the country from a mountain or the air to really appreciate it.
The aircraft is an amazing little two seater Called a Technam. Italian built and quite sporty is the high wing model I flew today. Other than the facts I have forgotten, it has a 100 horse under the bonnet, does about 120 knots, has a stick not a yoke, and costs about 130 dollars an hour to hire. So much was going on I already forgot most of it. Will get some photos next time out.
I like flying because you can pick up most of the gossip of what happened around the country after a few minutes at the Aero Club, I have missed that. Also with the right sort of aircraft (Piper Cub) there is an amazing number of strips on private and public land that give access to great hunting. Its not a helicopter I know but they are so bloody expensive to buy and run.
So if there is anyone out there who can add to my limited knowledge of STOL aircraft for sale or airstrips in the mountains on public or private land please do let us know.

Yeah I guess so. But I still pray for clear skies and no cross wind across the strip. What I cant figure out is what to do with my left hand. I fly the Tecnam at the moment from the right hand seat and I am used to the yoke in my right hand and a hand full of collective and throttle in my left now I have got a hand doing damn all.
