New Hunting Area

Postby Scribe » Thu Oct 26, 2017 8:11 pm

On TV three tonight. 50 Sika deer liberated in Northern Taranaki. Interesting that anti 1080 protesters have got the blame. There is something wrong with this story I feel as I don't know many deer farmers that could muster 50 sika in one place. Easy to track the people responsible I would have thought, then they would not have to guess and get it all wrong again.
It will probably turn out to be fake news. Sounds like the story of the threat to put 1080 in infant formula that was blamed on anti 1080 protesters. It turned out that a Government Poisoner was the real culprit.

These stories are coming out of a Department that were implicated in the inoculation of possums and their release back into the wild.

Heard the Game Animal Council Chairman on the RNZ saying how bad 1080 protestors were and he had access to "erxpert Sika hunters who would go into the area in support of Dork to cull out all the bad deer. FFS!
I gather Sika foundation are up DoC's arse on it as well.

Went up into the Urewera's during the week to get a bit of venison for the freezer. Amazed at the number of fallow deer around the area now. Saw mobs of Fallow hinds and fawns everywhere and a mob of 13 fallow stags all together. Very pretty they were too. It looks like Operation Ark is going well and the fight to stop them from creating a pest free (deer free NZ) by 2050 is doomed to failure. I worked together with Evan years ago and he hasn't lost his bread making skills he learned in the Forest service
