Whitebaiting 2017 Season

Postby Scribe » Mon Oct 09, 2017 10:09 pm

Started with dirty flooded rivers and poor catches then it came good. First exploratory trip only netted us a kilogram of fish but the river has started to come right. Last trip with these two boys we caught 3 1/2 kilos.

The boys (sons of an old hunting and trapping mate) are having the time of their lives, 3 fishing days and a day catching whitebait is about what the doctor ordered for their school holidays they reckon.

Just heading off in an hour to spend the night at spot x. I hope the river has gone down a bit as it has been very high since the season started.

Deck 003.jpg

Caught the wed high tide at 5.30pm and stayed the night and caught the 6.00 Am tide this morning.

Weather was good with a bit of wind from the north East which ruffled the water and made it a bit hard to see the whitebait coming over the white board.

I caught about 3.1/2 kilo last night and close to the same again this morning. Great to spend the evening and early morning at the river. The Campervan sure comes in handy.
