From what I’ve seen it doesn’t seem to be as bad as it could’ve being. Annoying about the 5 year renewal though. The devil (as always) will be in the detail. I’ve had a few thoughts about it which I won’t put up on here

Expect more costs and the need for a ‘genuine’ reason. They’ll be looking harder at applicants from now on.

Well it is worse than it could have been too. It sounds like if you have been giving the Govt and its minions a hard time that could colour their thinking about what makes a fit and proper person.
I sure don't think the Police look better in black than our law abiding gun owners.
I expect the devil will be like you say 'in the detail'. Making owning a firearm an unpleasant experience is top of their agenda for sure.
