How You Can Help Stop Anti-Gun Legislation

Postby Kiwigunguy » Fri Sep 13, 2019 2:35 am

As I'm sure you are aware, we are currently facing some of the worst anti-gun legislation in our history.
The proposals include registration of all firearms, which will put us all in the same position as the E Cat shooters who got completely screwed over.
Seeking help for depression or other mental health issues would likely result in the police raiding your home to confiscate your firearms.
Our once "lifetime" licences would be cut to five years, doubling their cost even without the fee increases(see below).
Fees for licences and permits would be increased substantially in an attempt to put gun ownership out of reach of all but the most wealthy.
An Arms Act Advisory Group would be established, and would be stacked with anti-gun activists appointed by police.
That same committee would be involved in even more substantial changes to the Arms Act in the near future.
Shooting ranges would be burdened with onerous regulations intended to make their operation unfeasible.
That's just a few of many examples, but the rest is just as bad if not worse.

There is something we can do to stop the bill, though.
Labour and the Greens are not surprisingly committed to pushing this legislation through, and they only take firearms advise from Nash and Cahill.
However, National has stated they will oppose the bill, and ACT likely will as well.
That just leaves NZ First and Jami-Lee Ross, who is currently independent.
We need to focus all of our efforts on getting them to oppose this legislation.
If we can do that, we can stop this bill. If passed, this bill will represent an existential threat to gun ownership and shooting sports in this country.
It is always far more difficult to undo bad laws than it is to stop them from being passed in the first place.

If you ever write an email to anyone, write one to the all the NZ First MPs and Jami-Lee Ross.
If you plan to continue owning firearms, I expect you to at least spend five minutes doing that, if nothing else.

Here are the NZ First email addresses:
Darroch.Ball@parliament.govt.nz.; shane.jones@parliament.govt.nz.; jenny.marcroft@parliament.govt.nz.; ron.mark@parliament.govt.nz.; tracey.martin@parliament.govt.nz.; clayton.mitchell@parliament.govt.nz.; mark.patterson@parliament.govt.nz.; winston.peters@parliament.govt.nz.; Fletcher.Tabuteau@parliament.govt.nz.;

And here is Jami-Lee Ross' email: jami-lee.ross@parliament.govt.nz.

NZ First have made big promises to support lawful gun owners in the past.
Now it's time to hold them to those promises. The ball's in your court.

This is the only thing that may stop this legislation.
We all Know that NZ First are toast at the next election. They themselves may not realize it,through being surrounded by bullshit artists in Wellington. We need to point out that their legacy need not to be the nine traitors, who enabled the trashing of the bill of rights, warrantless search of licence holders and the destruction of shooting sports in NZ.
There is an opportunity to make amends for their despicable behaviour, and that is to cross the floor and vote against this vile bill that targets NZ's most law-abiding citizens.

First reading in parliament today.
This is happening because politicians think that there are votes in this.
We need to prove them wrong.

I think they are going to have a battle to get this over the line JWB. Have you had a sniff of the wind and what is your opinion of Nationals threat to oppose this legislation. Are they serious or are they just politicking.

Sorry to be tardy in replying. National support this attack on firearms owners. their thirteen points to be included before they will publically support the bill, do not do away with the registry. Their main wish, which is for firearms prohibition orders, is political nonsense at its worst.
Known criminals shouldn't be able to acquire a firearms licence at the current time, so are already prohibited from possessing firearms. As if they will comply with a prohibition order, instead of ignoring it as they do the present legislation.
National is Labours partner in this attack. 119 to 1 against us.

This bill is going through, no matter how many submissions are against it. There is an agenda and it will be implemented. Turning some NZ First MPs is the only hope of stopping it for now, but I believe should that happen, National would support the bill to ensure it became law.
National, Labour, Greens, NZ first, need to be punished in the polls next year for this obscene attack on our way of life and private property. We both know our fellow countrymen, and know that that is never going to happen. The political programming runs to deep.

So now this has come to fruition. The bill has passed its second reading, after adding more draconian measures from the select committee(banning pump action centrefires).
NZF are now making noises about not supporting the bill in its present form.
