Did you get out for a hunt ‘Scribe’..?

No I probably would still be out there 'Packhorse' if I went. We have been talking of building a hut in this area but havnt done it yet. I have a pretty stuffed Immune system 'Vietnam', so I cant take too many risks and that is really the reason the Deer are over there and I am over here.

Autumn is the greatest time of the year for hunters really. Deer are fat and vocal. Bush smells great. Fawns weaned and growing quickly. Weather is usually great but cool enough to hunt. Meat keeps well hanging in a tree with a bit of pepper sprinkled over it. A very good joke doing the rounds of a woman demanding her husband hand her the hairdryer and he gives her a revolver. There will be an awful lot of people that will feel like that in a week or two.
Our property runs down to the queens chain on the foreshore and they tell me I am not allowed to go fishing either???????

Went out to the kennel to let dog out to go to work. Called her, she didn’t respond. Crawled into kennel n touched her. Some time during the night she had gone to the big paddock in the sky.

Never going to be a trial dog , she was more than adequate for the amount of work I had for her. Ton of guts when needed with a big heart.

Still no rain here. Things are so dry that a fog would be a bonus. Got to get out havnt anything to write about. Went down to the beach below us for a surf cast, only caught one snapper and a small kahawai. Mate fell over on the oyster rocks on the way and he looked like he had been pushed backward through a combine harvester. He was bleeding from everywhere. So as revenge we got a mess of oysters and had them for tea.

Some of us locals will meet at six o'clock in the morning at the lookout a 100 yards from our house for a small Anzac rememberance parade. We will watch the sun come up over the bay and remember all those that fought with us but are no longer with us to raise a glass in salute.
So medals are found polished and ready to go. A bottle of whiskey that has been decorating my cupboard for a year or two will be sacrificed to a good cause. So raise your glass tomorrow for our boys wherever you may be.

We stood at dawn. Fog all around.

Lest we forget.
